Tho Depavtmonl of Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner, London, dated the 10th inet.:—There is a belter tone in the muttoa market this week; no change in pricie of New Zealand. River Plate mutton has advanoed one farthing per Id. Tho lamb market
is weak for this reason’s shipment. The average price of New Zealand lamb, Canterbury brand, is s£l per lb (nominal). There is a better demand for beef, stocks of New Zealand beef on band being light. The average price of hindquarters of New Zealand beef is 3JI, fores 2J3. Tbe bu‘ter ma'ket is steady, and the demand is getting better. Prospects ere rather more enoouraging. The average price of choicest New Zealand butter 10-day is 106 s per cwt., Danish 114 s. The cheese market is dull at 60s per cwt. The hemp market is quiet. Prices are slightly weaker. The price of New Zealand hemp is £33 per ton, January to March shipments £32 10s. Tho oocksfoot seed market is steady, but the demand is only moderate. Prioes are firm. The prioe of New Zealand cookefoot seed, weighing 171 b por bushel, on spot, is 54s per cwt.
