THE GOVERNOR.

(Per Press 'Association.)

Hastings, last night. The Governor arrived by motor oar from Napier yesterday, and was the gnest of Sir William Russell. This morning he was received by the Mayor and Councillors, and presented with an illuminated address; also an address by Mrs G. P. Donnelly, on behalf of the Maoris. His Exoellenoy, in his remarks, stated that he shortly intended to take a house near Hastings, so that he could inspeot this beautiful country. The Governor was then driven to the Stats sobool, where he addressed the children. In tbe afternoon he journeyed to Frimloy, and wenl through the orohardsand canning factory. Ho was greatly impressed. His Excellency leaves for New Plymouth on Wednesday.
