During the four . weeks ending January 27 the Komata Reefs Gold Mining Company treated 1150 tons of ore for bullion valued at £2649.

Fireman John Hennelly, aged 21, single, was killed by a fall from an engine near Henderson this morning. He was looking over the side of the engine, when he overbalanced, striking against the buttress of a bridge and falling 20ft. The top of his skull was reduced to a pulp, death being instantaneous. Hawera, last night. Blacaball, a road contractor, was killed by a fall of earth in a gravel pit at Pihama.
