TECHNICAL TRAINING.

The final report of the Departmental Oommitteo of the Royal College of Science recommends the establishment of a group of associated Colleges of Soience and Technology, where the highest specialised instruction may be givoo, and the fullest equipment provided for the most advanced training and researob, becoming the chief technical schools of the Empire, The group will include a special College of Soienoe, Royal Sohool ;of Mines, Central I Technical College and a new department to be established at South Kensington. The Commissioners of the 1851 Exhibit tion are willing to great the unoccupied portion of their estate. The Government offer building at South Kensington used as a College of Soience, with an annual grant of £20,000. The London County Counoil will probably grant a similar annual amount. The 00-operation of the University of London and the Council of the City and Guilds Institute has been practical secured. Mr Wernher Beit’s gift of £IOO,OOO is available for the buildings and their initial equipment, A governing body of 40 members is recommended, one-fourth to be Government nominees.
