DAIRY INDUSTRY.

ADVICE BY EXPERTS. (Per Press Association.) Invercargill, last night. The annual meeting of dairy factory men was held at the Bluff to-day, when the Government graders, Messrs Sawers and Singleton, tested cheese, and explained the process. This evening a meeting was held in Invercargill, when Mr Kineella, Dairy Commissioner, gave an address. He said that after an absenes of three years he found a very great improvement in the make of Southland cheese. From a factory poiot of view he did not think there could be muoh improvement. It must be looked for in the direction of better milk supply. Re dairy inspection, they were not much further ahead than six years ago. That branch was not under his control. It had been suggested that cows should be taxed for inspeotion, the Department paying as muoh as would make up the salaries of inspectors; bat much would depend on the qualifications of the men appointed. Factories in tho South should bo better equipped for curing obeese. He urged the necessity for on experimental station, with a library. Fewer cows and better ones had proved a marvellous success in Denmark, and should be tried here Cows came in profit too poor to do good. Re sale of produce in Britain, every effort should be made to sell through the same obaonel every year to the same consumers.
