Mr Keir Hardie declares that protection will be discussed on its merits. The aim of the Laborites is to visit the colonies and arrange with Labor for a common course of action to strengthen the relations of the Motherland and colonies, take the question of freetrade versus protection out of the hands of party politicians, and to come to an understanding acceptable to Labor movements. He emphasises that mechanical inventions aro rapidly reducing the demand for labor and increasing the output of commodities.
