MEAT INDUSTRY
(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, laßt night. A meeting of abareholdera in the British and Hew Zealand Meat and Produce Company was held this afternoon to discuss the affairs of the Company with Mr H. F. Reece, general manager for the Company in London, who is on a short visit to the colony. Mr Beece gave a satisfactory account of the Company’s position, and in arswer to a question as to what were the prospects for live mutton for the coming season, replied that on no account must it be made too fat, and it would enter in direct competition with Australian and Argentine mutton. It was impossible for anyone to forecast the value of meat in Smithfield, but be was of opinion that the probable value for good ewe mutton of suitable weight,?, say 481ba to 601bs, would be 2fd to 3d a lb,
