A oommifcleo was appointed to make inquiries into various claims of members for long-servioe medals Captain Bagleton, of Napier, read a paper on “ Suppression of Fire.” Four gold stars were presented j for 25 years’ sol vice. The rule in regard to the highest aggregate points was altered. A remit from Greymoutb to recommend that the ladder race be won in Paris against lime wbs agreed to. A remit from Napier Fire Police, that the peoalty for using the reel over the hose, he altered from “ disqualification ” to one of five seconds. The conference continued this forenoon, and will probably olose today. The oleotion of oflicora is proceeding. It was resolved " That the Association again expresses approval of the Fire Brigades’Bill as at present dratted, and urges on the Government the great importance to the fire prevention servioe of the colony that the Bill should be- passed as speedily as possible ; therefore, while thankiog the Government for efforts in the past, we trust the measure will be passed by the House early in the approaching session.” Invitations were received from Chriatohuroh and Wanganui to hold the oonfereuoe next year. A bal.ot resulted In favor o JOhristohuroh. Later.—At the fire brigades’ conference ibis afternoon the delegates subscribed to present a chair to the Nelson hospital. The Brigades Aooident Assurance Society met. The report showed that the receipts since last meeting totallsd £IOBS, including the balance brought forward. The expenditure totalled £ll4 14s, of which "s&iOl was paid in accident oiairns against £257 in tha previous year. The profits for the year were nearly £9O An amended Beale of contributions was adopted. The oommitfcee reported that the olaim of the Keefton brigade on behalf of Fireman Potts for accident allowance could not be entertained. The report was adopted. Secretary Scactlebury, of Reefton, was elected prasidont, Messrs King and Boyos (NoIsod) vice-presidents. Mr Gilberd, of Napisr, was re elooiod secretary, also treasurer, and Messrs Garner and Hodg aon were eleotod auditors
