FRIENDLY SOCIETIES
AN ENQUIRY AND WELL DESERVED SNUB.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. Icspeotors who were appointed undor the Friendly Societies Act, 1882, to inquire into a series of changes preferred against the offioers of tho North Island Grand Lodge of U,A;O D. by Lodge Pacific of Wellington have submitted the result of their inquiry to the Registrar of Friendly Societies. The inspectors find that the charges were not sustain© 3. They much regret that an inquiry was considered necessary, a proceeding which, while provided for in the Friendly Societies Act, was one that hitherto had not been celled into operation by any Friendly Society in New Zealand. They thought that the ■fraternal spirit inculcated by all friendly societies guided by a liberal interpretation of the rales and mutual forbearance should have sufficient influeoce to opnfioe disputes for settlement within the jurisdiction of their own appointed tribunals.
