Under tho new regulations, states the Hawke’s Bay Herald, three different classes of scholarship are decided upon the one examination. Two National Scholarships aro allotted to each Education Board district overy year. Io addition, six junior Queen’s Scholarships, which carry tho holder to the High Sobool, from which another scholarship will take him to Viotoria College, are granted to pupils within the Wellington, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Marlborough, Westland and Nelson districts. It would appear that two of those come to Hawbo's Bay, although four of our scholars have qualified. In addition, tho Education Board scholarships (vnlue £2 10s and free places to town pupils a id £2O to country pupils) are decided upon the same examination. Tatra were 791 scholars examined, aDd Hawke’s Bay secured four p’acis, including tbe firs',out of the first eighteen.
