LABOR CONFERENCE.

At a meeting of the Otago Trades and Labor Oounoil the following resolutions were carried(l) That this Council favors the holding of the proposed Labor Conference, and that provided preliminaries can be arranged satisfactorily a representative from the Counoll be appointed, sub' iectto (a) equal representation between capital and labor, (b) adequate remunera Hon and expenses being paid by Government to representatives attending, (o) control and management of the prceedure of Council being vested tn the same. .This Council is of opinion that the Conference suggested by the Premier will act as a much needed educational medium, and bo the moans of bringing the claims of our national industries, and the besti means of protecting, and developing before the public and Parliament, also of elucidating the fro “. a P^“ - tioal point of view of past libor legislation noon the industrial portion of the com' munity, and the Council further believes would tend towards convmo ing employers of the wisdom of embodying many of‘ the workers just demands in Cure legislation, to say nobbing of removing misconceptions which appear to “ isfc m regard to the present law , (2) That the council deprecate the tone of the ABoocint’on, In reply to a letter ct.clining to bo epresentod at the Conference and “m.,, it is a direct attack upon the premier, orudo in construction,and not in. artnnrdanoo with the truth, or relevant to Government tie'urge”to into force thn regulations restricting the weight of
