Christchurch, last night, The Waltham Orphanage inquiry were continued to-day. Evidence was given by Miss McArthur, assistant at the Orphanage, to the effeot that tho children were seldom punished by the strap. The dry bread punishment jjfefseidom ussd, and then only for one meal. She bad not hell any of the chillran down while they were being punished, and never heard the Matron use bsd language. She had made dresses for tho two Andrews’ obillroD, and they had not complained about them. o»her witnesses stated that tho children wore well looked after, nod were happy and oomfortable. The inquiry will be resumed on Thursday.
