CHINESE LABOR.
A PROTEST FROM NEW ZEALAND [ (Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. A publio meeting was held to-night to discuss tbo polioy of the British Government in regard to Chinese labor in the Transvaal. The meeting was well attended, and the following was passed: "That whereas the'late British Government, at the dictation of a small number of capitalists, has seen fit to introduce Chinese ooolie laborer into the, Transvaal, on pretence that the richest gold mines in the world would not pay if free white labor were employed, and whereas such a polioy is at variance with the sentiment and traditions of the British race, tbia meeting horeby espressos its hearty sympathy with tho prl'oy of the British Liberal party as unfolded by its leader, Sir H. Campbell-Bannerman, and trusts that for the sske of tbs honor and good name of the Empire that polioy will bo ondorsed by the electors of Great Britain and Ireland,"
