BOATING MISHAPS.
A YOUTH DROWNED. (Per Press Association.) Auckland, last night, Roy Joseph Little, aged 17, and William Troughear, aged 21, were rowing a boat at Whangapona. Little lost an oar, and tho boat got broadside on in the surf and cap. sized. Troughear, seeing nothing of Little dived, and pulled Little from undor the boat. Both were good swimmers, and struck out for the shore, 20 yards off, A largo broaker overwhelmed them ’and washed Troughear ashore, but Little was drowned. His dead body was subse . quently recovered. Wanganui, last night. A fishing party had an exciting experience yesterday at Kai Iwi beach, their boat capsizing in the breakers 200 yards from the shore. A Maori ewam out with a line, on whioh all but one of the oocupants reached shore. He swam, and landed in an exhausted condition An other was only brought to after restorative methods had been applied for half hour. an
