The lioensee, Mr MoArnoy. was absent in Foxton. M. Croavcn owned tho hoto', which was insured for £7OO in tho New Zealand oflioe. It was a very old structure, and the Lioonsing Committoe ordered it to be rebuilt. Wanganui, Saturday. A firo ooourred at midnight in a six roomed bouso at St. John’s Hill, ocoupied jy J. G. Browne, and owned by J. E. Roniell. Browne, whose wife and family voro [absent, only movod in during the veek, and bis furnituro was unpaoked. Fhe building was gutted and everything lestroyod.
