GISBORNE’S PLAY. (Special to Gisborne Times.) Wellington, last night. Gisborno played to-day at ibo Viotorla green, obtaining ono win tj two losses. Tho first gamo against Waverley was a keenly contested one, Gisborne beiDg ahead until the list shot was played. When lying two Emerecn for Waverley >1 drew a magnificent ebot, which Gaudin was unable to ditlodge. In the matoh ogaiDst Southland tho Gieborne men made a poor display, the superior drawing powors of their opponents telling with deadly effict. Poosford’s rink lost by sevoral point", and Gaudin’s toam went down by 80 to 10. Ia tho latter game, on a remarkably koen green, neither the one, two nor throe of ibo Gisborne team could find the jack, and but for eoverel fine drawing shots ou tho part of the skip tho defeat would have been much greater. With a groat rovoisal of form Gisborne fairly romped home over Hawera in the evening, whom thoy defeated by 54 to 20. In the latter game tho green wos somewhat heavy, aod more suited to the play of tho Poverty Bay players. Gisborne have yei to play Auckland and Hastings, —-i and given a victory against both, there is a chance for them still competing for the championship banner and shield in the finals. On the whole the performance of the Gisborne club is the beet so far exhibited an inter-dub tournament, and tbelr play has been followed with great interest. i A largely attended meoling of bowlers was held this evening, when a number of matters wore discussed.
