As the competii held by the Toran' gaoui Bowling 01 amongst the first yea r players draws t a clese, the keenest ioterost is bei?/evoked amongst the members, and a aturday last Ihere waß a large at’endaamn the green to witness the first of therri-fioals. The green was in splendid orr, playing very fast, and enabled bowleta draw well. A number of games wet played, but all interest centred in the me between Nasmith, jar, and Hird, w; played a semi-final in the junior sides. It proved a good game, reeultioi — Nasmith,; 21 v. Hird 15 Nasmith dp 1 on the Ist head, Hird replying th 2on the 2nd. Nasmith scoredon the 3 and 4tb, and Hird on the stb and 6tfcthe score on the 6ih head bobg 4 all. Othe Bth head Hird had 8 to Nasmith’s but on the 11th bead Nasmith had lto his opponent’s 9. The next 7 heads aw Nasmith putting up some good scorig, and on the 18th head he had 21 to hicredit, Hird still standing at 9, On the 3 remaining heads Hird put up 6, and lasmith consequently won by a very eafeinargin. The semi-finl between Bsnuett and Martin remainsio be played, the winner playiog Nesinit! in tbo final. _ Entries are nw be'mg received by the olub forhandica pairs, the trophies being two pair of bowi.
