BUGGY WITH OCCUPANTS FALLS OVER CLIFF. (■*■■■■ ‘“H A serious aceideDt occurred on the Gis-borne-Morere road on Sunday morning. Mr M. G, Nasmith and his daughter Ethel in company with Mr and Mrs G.' Gray were returning from tho Spiiugs, and when about eight miles from Mororo, or about three miles boyond Proudlock’s, tho horse attaohed to Mr Nasmith’s buggy became stirtled at a slight fall of papa from the hill alongside tbo real, Mr Nasmith had just succeeded in quieting the anima’ when a larger tall of oaith took place. Tbis I gave tho hortc greater fright, and caused it to back. Mr Nasmith immediately

jumped from tho vehiclo and took the horse’s head. Tho animal continuing to back, he oal'od to his daughter to jump, which sho did, but unfortunately got caught by tho dress in tbo ironwork of the seat, and hung betweou two wheels. The vehiclo weut ovor the edge of the road and

down tho cliff, taking both Mr Nasmith and Miss Nasmith ovor wiih it. About ihree-fourtbs of the way down tho cliff Miss Nasmith wai thrown clear of tho buggy, but tho horso and trap rolled lo the bottom. The animal landed on its back, and kicked both harness and vehicle tr pieoos. Mr Gray, who witnessed tho accident, assisted Mr Nasmith, who, luckily, sustained no injury beyond a very severo shock. Both gentlemen went to the I a3 sistance of Miss Nasmith, who lay far down the cliff. Sho was unconscious, and lay iD that state for some time. Mr Cooper, of Morere, who happened to pcsi shortly after the accident, sent his buggy to the scene of the mishap, and tbo sufferers wero convoyed to their home. Miss Nasmith, who sustained severe iniuries is at present confined to her room, while Mr Nasmith is recovering from the severe shook ho received. The place where tho accident occurred is on the worsi part of tho road, the cliff ovor which the vehicle went having about 100 ft of a I fall! '
