Tho hotelkeepers in this district ware evidently making a strenuous effect to oboy tho law, aud on tho result oblained they were diserving of high praise. The polico also dosorvel special commendation. They bad striotly carried out tboir duties, but in a judicious manner, aud although at times people may have thought they were acting harshly, it must bo roinembered that they were only fulfilling tboir duty in seeing that tbo requirements of tho law wore being properly observed.
