Acceptances for the principal events at ho Auckland Racing Club’s summ r mo ing must on the whole be considered ligbly satisfactory. Thirteen have paid ip for the Cup, sixteen for the Railway Handicap, and Beven for the Auckland Reeplecbas’. In the Cup Mahutonga is oft at the head of affairs and provided he reaches the poit in the Eamo condition as ivhen ho accounted for the event lastyoar will stand in need of a lot of beating. Backers will, however, be well advised to wait farther information re his track work beforo supporliDg him. Qaarryman still keeps his posiiion in tho betting market and provided ho keeps on all right will probably statt favorite. Paritutu has ooi been beard of since bo competed st the Canterbury Jockey Club’s spring meeting but from private information received bo can bo regarded as almost a certain starter. CCadstono tai been left in both the Cup and tho Railway, and probably bis party’s intentions will be, male publio Bhortly. Putty is well enough treated on the scoro of weight, and m»v prove tho best of the local borec’, although bo might not be class ooougb to win right out. Mr Watt has paid up for MclodoD, but such an unreliab'o customer can only be givon a rough chanco. Armistice by her victories at Feilding ha 3 tamed a eoven pound penalty, which only brings her weight up t j 7.4, and eomo keen judges aro found favoring her chanco. She should defeat a'l below bcr. In the Railway Handicap all the fanciod ones have stood their ground, and tho issue at present locks decidedly opeD.—Star.
