At a meeting of the Charitable Aid Board to-day it was rrsolved to Bgain apply to tbe Defence Miuister for a piece of land for an infectious diseases hoe* pitel.
At tbo City Council meeting to-nigbt; Cr Wilson having refused to formulate auy obargo in connection with his notice j of motion to hold an inquiry into tbe management of the electric tramways by Noyes Bros., tho Council, on the reoom* mendalion of tbe tramways committee, j resolved to expunge from the minutes the notico ol notion as being a reflection on | Noyes Bros.
Nelson, last night, j Whilst Messrs W. Downie and J;vl Goodyor were driving to Tophouse to act ] for the returning officer their horse bolted < down a steep hill. Mr Downie, in jumping out, sustained a bad fracture of tho and was muoh bruised.
