(To the Editor Gisborne Times.'
‘ Sir, —I am a Maori, and therefore can f only give Mr Carroll m,y moral support, j lam not a i a'l anxious about his return, , for the simple reason that the elec’ors of . Waiapu ar not so senseless as to turn out ’ a Cabinet Minister when it a foregone conclusion that the Government ate sure to be returned. To come to figures, Mr Darton on Monday night admitted that i his 900,00 acres of native lands in this electorate are somewhere in tLe land of shadows, for he modified his offioial figures by eß,viDg some of tho 900,000 were occupied, but when asked how much of it I was occupied and how much unoccupied, I he replied he could not say. Now, Mr I Clayton has relied on Mr Darton to con- I firm his figures, and Mr Darton’s being indefinite and uDceitiin Mr Clayton’s mußt be worse. Mr Carroll has already answered the question which Mr Darton failed to answer; that is, there are only 200,000 acres pf native lauds remaining unoccupied in this electorate, because the titles to them have not ben; investigated. . Mr Carroll after all knows his own buei- j ness better than Mr Claytoa does. Kia f Ora, Timi Kara and the eleotors of Waiapu. —I am, ito., j BANGI,
