A ROUGH TIME.
OPPOSITION CANDIDATE CHASED AND EGG-BESPATTERED.
(Per Press Association.) Auckland, last night. Mr A. Penn Bradley, one of the candidates for City Central, gave an open-air address to-night, notwithstanding the hostile demonstration on Monday. Between 2000 and 3000 people collected, and the candidate, protected by seven policemen, was given a fair hearing for threequarters of an hour. Then considerable bustling took place. Rotten eggs and chemicals were thrown. The police endeavored to escort Bradley away. He was chased down the street by an excited' orowd, whioh stopped the tram traffic. Eventually he was hurried into a car by the police and got away.
