Transhipments ex s.s. Morayshire, from Liverpool, arrived by the Zealandia yes terday. A woman named Mrs Parker fell off a tramoar in Colombo Btreet, Chrißtchuroh. She was out about the head and shoulders, but not seriously injured. Messrs Dalgety and Co. and Common, Shelton and Go. hold their Matawhero Block sale to-day. The entries oonsißt of 150 head of cattle, 100 ewes and lambs, and 30 pigs. The sale oommenoes at 11 a.m. sharp. A Dunedin telegram states :—Bobert Parfitt Neale, 67 years old, a resident of ,the port, died on Thursday night while attending a prayer meeting in the Congregational Ghuroh, of which, he was a member. He, leaves a grown-up family of five daughters and three boos, one of whom is assistant stationmaster at Dunedin.
A quiet wedding was celebrated yestsr* day afternoon at the residence of Mrs J. Muldoon, Disraeli Btreet, when Minnie, eldest daughter of the late Mr J. Moldoon, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Mr Charles Markison, of Gißborne. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr P. Muldoon, looked very pretty in a handsome eream voile costume elaborately trimmed. She wore a large white lace hat," trimmed with white , feathers and chiffon. The brids was
attended by nor sistor miss juizz:e Maidoon, who was becomingly attired in a pretty cream voUe, wearing a pink straw bat. The bridegroom was attended by Mr P. Muldoon as best man. Tbe bridegroom’s present to the bride was a pretty gold neoklet and pendant, and tbe bridess maid a diamond brooob. After the ceremony the guests were entertained at the residence of tbe bride's mother. The presents were numerous and costly. Tbe happy couple left on their honeymoon in tbe evening.
The first round of racing in the trial fours of the Poverty Bay Club commenced last nigbt, when the crews stroked by Beeß Jones and Alf. Fool eompeted for the photos presented by Mr B. Cox The orews were : B. Jones (str.), J. Stuart (8), A. Lyford (2), W. Thaxter (bow), and Alf. Pool (str.), J. Bobinaon (8), 0. Price (2), Pool (bow). Mr A. Pritchard acted as starter, and got the crews well away ; but after rowing about a hundred yards the orews collided. They started again by mutual consent, Pool’s team getting the lead, and eaoh crew led in turn until they were about the bathing shed, Pool’s cox I ikiog him 100 near the bank, by wh’ch 1 o lost nearly a lengti. Bees’ orew winning by a length. To-nigbt’s race will be between J. Webb and MoQuifie, and ft good face should result.
