FEDERAL STONEWALL.
THE FIGHT TO BE RESUMED TO DAY. By telegraph, Presi A"aa’n t Copyjcigfit Melbourne, Nov. 18. Tho stonewall continues. Attempts to secure a compromise failed. Mr Reid arrives from Sydney this afternoon to take a hand in the proceedings. The Speaker announoed that if the dobate was unfinished he would not sit beyond midnight.
Reoeivod 5.9 p.m., Nov 19. The stonewall was adjourned at midnight on Saturday till 10.30 Monday morning. At 11 Mr Reid announced that the Opposition intended to leave the House at midnight aud allow the Government to do as they liked. Mr. Deakin said he had already sent a message to Mr Reid that the Government did not intend to sit after midnight, but as this was refused they would resume after the Sabbath was past, and continue till the Government resolution was carried. Either business would have to be done, or they must put in another Government. Mr Reid replied that he had not received Mr Deakin's message.
