(Per Press Association-) Auokland, last night. Obituary: Dr John Wilkins, formerly of Dunedin and Christchurch, aged 74. .The long debated question of the erection of a technical school in Auckland was again referred to at a meeting of the board of education yesterday morning. The matter was brought up by a letter from the Department, informing the Board that a grant of £4OOO has been made for a technical college for • Auckland,, subject to con* ditions: (1) The Board secures the right to a site of at east three-quar-ters of an acre, and (2) submits plans to the Minister’s approval. The Dir* ector of Technical Education (Mr Geo. George), reporting on the matter, mentioned a site which might be obtained from the City Council. It appears, however, the Council has not legally power without' obtaining a special Act of Parliament to say that the section shall :be granted ito the Board for a technical uoHege-site, but an Act could be passed empowering the council to vest this property in the Board. On the motion of Mr Bagnall, it was decided to apply to the City Council in terms of there*, port. William Warren, for robbing his employers, Abbot Oram and Co., of goods, was sentenced by Mr Justice Edwards to 12 months’ imprisonment. His younger brother, Percy Warren p was released on two years’ probation. John Wright, the carter implicated, was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment., • ' .
