COUNTY ELECTIONS.
EXCITING CONTESTS.
The Cook County Counoil elections took place on Wednesday, and exoited a good deal of attention, there being several very interesting contests. At Hangaroa Mr Clayton was defeated by Mr F. J. Lysnar by 60 to 27, whilst Mr H. H. Wall just beat Mr 0. J. Parker by one vote for the Te Arai seat. The Waikobu saw Mr W. D. S. Macdonald with a substantial majority, whilst Mr Harding defeated Mr Hegarty. Mr Carmichael defeated Mr Sherratt for the Patutahi seat.
The voting in the various ridings was as foliows
