ST. ANDREW’S CHURCH.

SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVEBSARY SERVICES.

The congregation of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church arc to be heartily congratulated upon the suooees of the anniversary services in connection with the Sunday School, held in His Majesty’s Theatre yesterday. There was a orowded attendance at each of the three services held, and the proceedings were of an attractive and impressive" nature. The musioal portion of the services was exoeN lently arranged, and reflected the utmost oredit upon Mr James East (conductor), Mr A. J. Massey (leader of the orchestra), and the Gisborne Bides Band (under the control of Mr MoKillop). A number of special hymns were Bung by a strong choir, whilst the Bifles Band rendered several appropriate selections. The ser mons delivered by the Bev. K. Pattison, of Waipnkurau, were of an interesting and instructive nature, especially the evening discourse, when the reverend gentleman took as his test the reply given by Paul to Agrippa on the queltion of the Ghristian life. Tbe preaoher said that the practical purpose of his address that evening was to try and induce those of tbe audience who had not yet decided for Ohrist to do so without delay. After referring at some length to tho historical associations leading up to trial of Paul before Agrippa, tbe speaker in a foroible manner dealt with the essentials necessary to the Christian life. He showed that the latter was tbe loveliest in the world, that the man who took Jesus Ohrist as his Saviour,, and strictly followed the examples and principles taught by Him was always found to be the noblest character. He instanced many notable statesmen aod soldiers as proof of this statement. The highest, noblest, and greatest spirits in the world to-day- were the men Bpd | women who were following Christ. I# cooolusion Mr Pattison made a strong appeal to the young men to decide that, evening for Christ. Tbe address was much appreciated by the largo congregation.* Before the conclusion of the evening servioe the Bev. J. 'G. Paterson, on behalf of the congregation, thanked all those who had assisted in making the Sunday School Anniversary services so successful, particularly Chose who had assisted with the mhsic. It was expected that upwards of JE2O would aoorue towards the Sunday sobool funds,
