Rain felltbrougbout the New Zealanders matoh against Surrey. The final stages were played in a very heavy storm. Despite the adverse weather conditions, Abo attendance was 12,000. The local men made a good defence in the first half, whioh was characterised by evenness of the play. The onlp >oore was a try obtained by Roberts (Wellington), whioh Gillett (Canterbury) converted.—s to nil. , , , ;• ;' ’ : In the second spell the visitors pressed their opponents continuously, except for an occasional rush by the Home forwards. Corbett (Westland) and MoGregor (Wellington) crossed the line, but kicks at goal failed. The game ended New Zealand 11, Surrey nil. ‘
The Government message states ! “ New Zealand team beat Surrey county by. 11 points to nil—on 6 goal and two tries, Roberts, Johnson and McGregor secured one each. The game was played in a deluge of rain.”
