The body of the young man Obarlos D>xjn who was drowned in the Mohaka rivtr on the 15th July las*, was discovered on the Loach at the foot of Tiwbanui Bluff by some boys out goat shooting. An inquest was held on jiho body at tbo residence of Mr Georgo Goodall, Tlwhanui, on tbo 18tb inst, before Mr G. Britnoll, J.P., aoting-ooronor, and a, jury of six. The upper portion of the body was in a fair state of preservation. .Mr W. McKain identified the body os that of Charles D xod, a former omployee of his. A verdict of accidental dooth by drowning in the Mohaka river was returned.

An extraordinary general meeting of shareholders of the Wairoa-Hawke’s Bay Shipping Company, Limited, was held on tho 23rd instant. The motion was carried The winding up of the company was left in tho hands of the direotors.

A very pretty wedding, took place at St. Paul’s Church on the 25th instant, when Miss Mabei Poyzer was married to Mr A. Pemberton. Tho parents of the bride gave a social in the Royal Albert Hall in the evening in honor of the event. Thero was a large attendance, and a moat enjoyable evening was spent.
