MORNING SITTING.
(Pear Press Association.) ■ Wellington, yesterday. The House met at 11 a.m.. The Speaker ruled that tha amendments of the Council m the Workers' Dwellinga Bill were a breaoh of privilege. A message was sent to the Council,, and managers appointed to form a conference. In Committee on the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Bill, clause 14, giving the enforcement of awards to magistrates, was thrown out by 40 to 17. A new clause was added providing penalties against strikes and lock-outs of £IOO in oase of a union, association, or employer, and £lO in the oase of a worker. Another placing indnstrial agreements on the same footing as the award wae added. Another new clause, proposed by Mr Tanner, applying the principle of preference to unionists, was rejected by 31 to 17. The Bill was then reported, and pat. through its final stages. In Committee the Workers' Compensation for Aooidents Bill passed with slight amendment.
AFTERNOON SITTING. . , -
The Co'jncil met at 2.80. The Mining Acts Compilation Bill, the Australian and New Zealand Naval Defence Bill, and the Maori Land Settlement Bill passed the final stages. The House resumed at 280. The Workers Compensation for Accidents Bill passed the final stages. The New Zealand International Exhibition Empowering Bill.was read a second time. EVENING! SITTING,
The Counoil resumed at 7.30. It was anhounoed that an agreement had been arrived at on the amendments in the Shops and Offices Bill, and the re* port of the Conference was adopted. The House resumed at 7.80. The Teachers’ Superannuation Bill passed final stages. At 10 60 the House went into Committee . of Supply for consideration of the Pablie j Works estimates. : /I
