BARQUE WRECKED.
MEAGRE REPORTS. (Per Press Association.) Dunedin, last night, News has been received that the barque County of Ayr, Capliin Tolloob, whiL-a sailed yesterday for Lyttelton with part of an original cargo from Point Esperauce, has been wrecked at the mouth of tbe Shag river, north of Shag Point, close to where tue It li m barque Antioohe Acoame was wrecked about four years ago. Purtioulare >o band are so far meagre. From Palmerston it is stated that up to seven o'clock Done of the crew had got ashore. One cf tbe ms.ste broke off, aud the sea was filling her up. The vessel, it
is said, drifted ashore this morning from Shag Point. However, it is reportad that a boat got ashore with ladies. The captain had his wife and daughter ou board, aud they would doubtless bo tbe ladies referred to. It was added that the bait had gone off to the wreck agaio, One uooouut says: “A heavy sea is running and tbe weather is foggy," but if tbß boat got ashore aud went back again, tho sea caonot be so heavy.
The fog is too dense to permit of sending u tug from Port Chafers, but possibly the Tulune, which left for tbe North in tbe afternoon may bo able to render assistance if any is required. So far SB can be ascertained a boat from the County of Ayr landed the Captain’s wife and daughter, and went out again to the ship. As soon as the fog lifts the tug Koputai will leave Po.t Chalmers to go to the assistaoce of the vessel.
