COLONIAL CONFERENCE.

MR SEDDON’S INVITATION.

By telegraph, Press Aaa’n, Copyright

Reoeived 11.20 p.m., Oot. 17, London, Oct. 17. The Daily Chronicle says that Mr Seddon’s inconvenient frankness is likely to lead the Government-into political difficulties. Since it was indecent and scandalous that a moribund, discredited Government should summon a Colonial Conference it was hoped the colonies would refuse to accept invitations. The Daily Mail publishes an officially authorised statement that no invitations have been issued for a Colonial Conference.

The Morning Post's Ottawa correspondent reports that Sir Wilfrid Laurier haß not reoeived an invitation.
