Thera has been a fair amount of bush ness passing in the local market duriog the week, a dumber of rales being made at quotations, amoDg which were 2400 bushels of Hunter’s and Tuscan at 3s, delivered at mill; 1000 bushels Hunter’s at 2s lid, at Addington; 3200 bushels of pearl and Tuscan at 2s lOd, 1600 bushels of pearl at 2e 9£d, 450 bushels of Tuscan at ss 9d, 1000 bushels of Hunter’s at 2s 9d, and 1000 bushels of damaged Hunter’s at 29 6£d, all at oountry stations. There has been a move in oats daring the past few days, and the advance in ptioes has resulted in a few lines changing hands. Sales have been made up to Is lid at oouotry stations for pcime milling, but most holders are asking 2s, even for feed lines. A line of milling Gartons was I sold at 2s Id f.0.b., sacks in, equal to Is 10 Jd at country stations, and another line of 800 bnshels was taken at Is 10d, also at country stations. There has been another sharp rise in potatoes, and up to £9 10s has been paid, stocks in second bands now being very

ight. Butter is lower by Id per lb.

Dalgety and Co., Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London office :—“ Frozen mntton and lamb, the tone of the market is very de' pressed. We quote : New Zealand mutton, Canterbury crossbred wethers and maiden ewes, 551 b to 651 b, f.a q., 4d per lb; North Island light weights 3£d per lb ; New Zealand lamb, prime Canterbnry, 321 b to 401 b, 4Jd per lb ; North Island, 4sd per lb ; heavy weights, North Island, 4d to 4£d. Frozen beef, prices are firmer. We qnoto : New Zealand beef, ox hinds, 1801 b to 2201 b, f.e.q., Bgd to BJd per lb ; OX lores, 2£d to 2£d per lb."
