At the annual dinner of the Chamber of Manufactures Mr Deakin announced that when the time oame the issue put before the people would be tariS revision with the express purpose of encouraging Aus« tralian industries of every kind. Consideration would be given to preferential trade within the Empire, in fact negotiations were proceeding with Canada and South Africa to that end.
