IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS
MADE.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, lasi, night. At tho function in connection with tho marine engineers on Saturday tho Premier made an announcement of tho postponement of the proposed Labor Conference to a date to be fixed later. Invitations have boon received to the Premiers’ Conference to be held at London, probably next year. There were many important questions to consider, including Privy Counoil reform and the establishment of an Imperial Council. Mr Seddon stated that, a'though the New Zealand Shipping Act had received the Boyal sanotioD, there was an inclination on the part of those in the Mother CouDtry to go back on what New Zealand had done. The Act had an application which thoy thought might be detrimental. New Zealand’s representative at the Conference would bo instructed not to go back. Mr Seddon announced that Canada bad agreed to essht with a subsidy, and arrangements would probably bo concluded shortly for a oargo steamship service between New Zealand and Canada. New Zealand’s revenue for the first half-year was £100,009 more tbau for the similar period last year.
