ALARMING RCMOR AND FACETIOUS MESSAGES.
I ~ [(Special to Gisborne Times.) I Wellington, last night; As the outcome of an extraordinary rumor that gained currency throughout j the West Coast of the North Island, the Hon. Mr Carroll to-day received the following wire from Palmerston Norfh;— “ Reported herp that you are dead—are you ? ” to whioh ho has replied, " On such a grave subject I should like to subßoribe myself l Alive.’—J. Carroll.”
