SHOW DAY.

(To the Editor of the Times.) Sir,—ln reading onr holiday committee’s report as regards show day and race day I think it is high timo the workers wero represented on the committee. To allow five employers to gather together and say what the workers have to do ia simply a faroe. I don't thiob there is one employee that should be deprived of having a whole holiday on show day. What chance has a man when he has got to work till nopn getting to the show; perhaps bp has to walk a mile after work to his home, snd by the time he has got ready with his family to go anywhere the day is done. If some shopkeepers want t j open their shops let them, bat let them stay there themselves, and not the assistants, As regards holidays I think that we have far fpo many, bat Dot at the right time. Yesterday, Labor Day, two thirds of the people were working, business places were open and there was no sign of a holiday; Thursday the same, some shut and some open; and the same with Saturday. Is it not time this was stopped, and if having a holiday let them all close on the same day, and then if Friendly Societies or Show or sports of any kind come along the people will be able to patronise them and enjoy the ontiDg, as well at makiDg it a .financial success.— l am, Btc.| WORKEEi .
