Doweitcs from New Zealand, on arrival at San Franoisco, en route 'to Zion Cityi were detained by the authorities on the ground that they were under oontraot to work for Dr Dowie, who had promised each of them work. Patriok Coyle, bis wife, end five obildron, from Sydney, were also detained. Coyle and bis wife, being- t ontirely deaf, it was feared they would® ; beoome a obarge upon the puolio. £j A passenger by the s.s. Sierra states that tlio Dowcites were eventually allowed to proooed to Zion City, while Coyle and his wife wore provided for by their relatives.
