London, Oct. 7. , After their series of unchcoked successes in tho South of Eoglaud the New Zealandjjl footballers journeyed north to Dnrbarnf Football has always held one of the chief places amongst pastimes in the largo mining population, who are acknowledged enthusiastic votaries of the Rugby game. Last season Durham narrowly missed winning the county championship, Kont defeating them in the final by the small advantage of 8 points to 6. Five , thousand spectators witnessed the game to-day. The colonials adopting their usual tactics, immediately invaded their opponent’s territory, and within the brief space of four minutes, Hunter (Taranaki! whipped over tbe line, and secured a try. Wallaoe failed with tbe shot at goal.
