At 12.30 to-day Jolly Friar was scratched for all engagements at the Spring meeting.
Ashburton, last night. At the Court to-day W. N. Jones, licensee of the Bridge hotel, Arundel, was fined j[s and costs on each of two charges for failing to keep a proper book for entering liquor orders for purchasers in a no-lioense district and failing to mark package containing liquor sold to an Asburton resident.
Timaru, last night. i The Timaru Presbytery unanimously: agreed to forward the name of the Rev W. Douglas, of Hokitika, as Moderator of the next Assembly. The Builders’ Association, at a meeting last night, decided that in view of the decision recently given here by Judge Chapman to the effect industrial agreements were not binding on parties who had not attached their names thereto, the agreement in force between the Builders’ Association and Carpenters’ Union will be cancelled, and an application made to the Arbitration Court, for an award.
