A GREAT MUSICAL ATTRACTION.
Probably no concert company has over had euoh a popular weloome in New Zealand 'as has been extended to Mr Watkin Mills’ quintette. Mr Mills has splendidly redeemed his promise to bring a first-class quintette to New Zealand, and their success is thoroughly deserved. On being questioned as to his selection, Mr Mills said " Fortunately (or me I happened to hear the right voices almost at once. Miss Kirkwood 1 had never beard before, but as soon as I heard her sing I settled 1 at once about bringing her out. I knew what M'ibs Lonsdale was, and I arranged with bor to oome. There was some difficulty about seleoiing a tenor. Mr Charles Saundere, who had been to Australia before, wanted to jom the tour, but could give up his engagements in England. Wilde was ouo of the first tonora I L beard, and I straightway Beoured his Ber■J - v j o eß. He is of the tenore robusto type, and is a very promising artist. There is a future in store for him. He has a fine voice, full of emotion, or, as the Americans call it) temperament, and he exoels in Wagnerian music. Tbe indispensable complement was a sympathetic accompanist, and such a one wo have in Mons. Parlovitz, who was here with me before. He is a brilliant artist, and has toured with me in the United States and Canada for several years. His inolusion completed the company.”
