THE BRUNNER FUND.

[(Per. Press Association.. 1 ) •* Wellington, last night, In reference to the telegram regarding the Brunner disaster fund, the Poblio Trustee states that under the trust the j trustee was to consult the Advisory Board, I a West Coaßt local committee, before mak- 1 ing alterations, and had power to veto the recommendations of the Board, Parents had no assured position on the fund like widows and ohildren. Their allowances had to be rendered year by year by the Board, and could be vetoed by tbe trustee. There was never aoy certainty of revival Qf their allowances, and Mrs Parsons and two other parents had in 1896 accepted lump sums in satisfaction of their claims upon the fund. Sinoe then, seeing that tbe allowances had been continued from year to year toothers who had not taken a lump sum in substitution, Mrs Parsons wanted to get back on the fund. To reinstate her would mean the reinstatement 0< other persons similarly placed, and in all oases arrears would havo to be paid up. The fund must in tbe firßt iplace be conserved for widows. He calculated that the fund would be exhausted by 1915, or three years longer than the period originally actually calculated, which result was being obtained by oaroful management. The contingency fund wns Dot for the purpQsc contended by the Board.
