Helon Jerome, an Australian, failing to obtain tbo Popo'a opinion on Australian socialism, Mr Hagan, vioo-reotor of tho Irißh Oollego at Romo, wrote to hor:—“ In tho long run tbo question is not far removed from a doctrinal one. So far as I can judgo, tho social programme approved by Cardinal Moran is no more real sooialism, as we understand the term here, than Cathrlioism is paganism. It is simply what wo know as Christian detnooraoy, which Leo XIII. and the present Pope warmly approved.
