A meeting of the Scbcoi Committees’ Association was held to-night, when tbe following motion was carried : “ Tbat the association desire to emphatically protest
against proposed legislation with respect to the appointment of teaoherß on tbe ground that the step will be a retrograde one, and totally opposed to tho best interests of the households of the co'ony; tbat the association urges present syetom of consulting oommittees on appointment of j
teachers should be extended, -and that more powers should be granted school committees in the general control - of educational matters; that education boards Bhould send down a list of all qualified applicants, committees to have the right of recommendation.
