Ccnsldorablo interest la being evinoed in tho appearance of "Tho Hugardes” in Gisborne on Wednesday eveniDg when they will open a'i His Majesty’s Tbeatro. The Welling on papers speak very highly of their performance. In fact they are generally credited with giving even a better performaooe than Dante the Great, who many will remember seeing in New Zealand in 1898. On Wednesday the management will present throe gigaDtic illusions with all the speoial scenery and effeots as shown on Thursday last before His Eioallenoy the Governor at Wellington. The following is a description of the vanishing lady illusion : A. lady, faultlessly attired in evening dress, is placed on the floor of the stage, lying flat in the full glare of tho footlights and limelight. The lady is 8060 t 0 r ' Bo sl° w ly until sh o is about Bfl Bin from the stage, then a hoop is passed over her from head to foot, showiol&tbat thoro are no wires or stage appliances. The lady is then stea to descend «lnwlv to the stage and pass softly from view "in a full bIBISO ° { limelight. 18 really a most mystifying performance. In addition to the illusions, tho company •will present a very strong company of entertainers, including Mr Edmund Bodte, the society comedian, Miss Louie bisher, mezzo soprano, Heilman, the kard king and Miss Esther Norderin.'
