Owing"-to. the oost of living and the dearness of meat and other neoessarieß, the employees of the Berlin electrical engineering companies aßked for an advance of 15 per oent. The employers offered 5 per cont as the extreme limit of the advance, as the working day had previously been reduced from ten to nine hours. The result of the refusal to work is that, two companies, have locked out 8000 employees. Other trades threaten to strike if the look-out extends.
