(Per* Press 'Association. 1 ) Invercargill, last night. ' Edgar Stuart, a young resident of Waikeia, attempted suicide by outting his throat with' a razor.; He had been despondent since the death of his brother, who was recently drowned fromthe Muddy Creek dredge. The wound inflicted was of a serious naturo and tho man has been removed to Southland hospital, where he lies' in a critical ststo. Mr Morrison, agent for the underwriters, has visited the steamer Rose Casey, and expresses the opinion that given fine weather and provided the started rivets and plates do not allow too great an inrush of water, there is a good chance of floating the steamor with the aid of a centrifugal pump. The steamer is full of water, but in spitß of the heavy sea is not bumping. The crew have gone to Dunedin. ...
