TRAFFIC INTERRUPTED AND WATER SUPPLY CUT OFF.

(Per Press Asiiociation.) Christchurch, last night. During the night, or at an early hour this morning, a big slip ooourred on the Sumner road at a point on tho Sumner side of Shag Rook. Huge boulders, weighing from 5 tb 10 tons, wero dislodged from the olifla by the effects of the soaking rain, and crashed on to the road below. Tons of day were brought down with the masses of rook, and the roadway was completely blocked. , The tramline was also covered with debris, and traffic was suspended for some

hours. One huge boulder landed od the water main whioh supplies Sumner, and broke It. The water poured from the reservoir on to the road, whioh was converted into a jnlniatare lake, while tho Sumner water supply Was out off until repairs wero effected.
