PUNITIVE EXPEDITION.
NATIVES SHOW FIGHT.

Particulars of tbo expedition to Malicolo show that it was more important than firdt reported. The natives stockaded the villages in preparation for an attack. Tho expedition had scaled a 900-foot oliff, the track being almoßt impassable. The natives fired throe volleys, bullets dropping amongst the sailors. None were hit.
As the force advanced they oleared the bush with shots from the maxima. The natives retired to the interior. Their villagos and plantations were destroyed. A noticeable feature was (bat the cordial relations between the Freqoh and English sailors was consideted to'have a salutory effect on the natives, and will strengthen the friendly feelings between the French and English settlers. H.M.S. Pegasus arrives with eight native prisoners.
